MOMENT WITH SOLAPE ADEYEMI

The pen is mightier than the sword! That sounds like a cliche. Anyways, my guest is one of those whose pen is mighty.

Recall that I promised you, my readers at the inception of this journey that interviews of people who work and live art in all its forms will be done. This is the first of its kind.
Let's make welcome my guest. Solape Adeyemi.

Who is Solape Adeyemi?

Solape Adetutu Adeyemi is an avid reader which birthed her writing skills as at the age of seven years.
She has many short stories, unpublished in her kitty.
She presently has two manuscripts titled ‘ Scarred' and ' Unhinged' with Winepress publishers, awaiting publishing
She has her published work: Love My Essence, a poem, in an anthology, called Lullaby of Silence
She is a script writer, poet and blogger.
She has a first degree in Microbiology and a Masters in Environmental  Management
She is an Environmental  sustainability enthusiast.
She loves watching documentaries about Whales as well as watching action packed movies and listening to music.

At what time did you discover your talent  as a writer?

As a child I discovered I loved reading and writing. I started with James Hardly Chase in primary school, Mills and Boon etc. I have many short stories in my kitty.

Where or how do you get inspiration to write?

Reading is my Muse, my everlasting inspiration. I live and love to read. I am a voracious reader who reads widely. Novels, news papers etc

Who is your favorite author?

My favourite author? This is a tricky question. I love many writers, myself inclusive! (Smiles). Okay in addition to myself, I absolutely love Sidney Sheldon's novels.

Of all your stories, which of them resonates with you the most?

Definitely, Between The Devil and The Deep Blue Sea. I cried when writing it. I was that emotional about it.

Aside writing, what do you like doing in your spare time?

I love to read and learn! I am presently doing an on line course on Modern HR management and a Script writing course with the Lagos Film School. I am also reading a Robert Ludlum novel: Prometheus Deception.

What motivates you to write?
Reading and watching movies motivates me.

How will you describe your writing?
My writing can be described as my heart and brain's outpouring.

What other thing would you have loved to be aside being a writer?

Asides being a writer, hmmmmm, I would have loved to be a business woman who travels a lot.

Do you think Nigeria is a good place to make it solely as a writer?

Nigeria is tough, not only as a writer. Many established writers tell you there is no money in writing. In this country. You need to have a job that finances your passion to write.

What writer living or dead would you like to meet if you have the opportunity?

What writer would I love to meet. Let me put on my thinking cap ( laughs). Sidney Sheldon, permit me to add a few more, please, Leon Uris and  the late Chukwuemeka Ike. The latter because his books are so mind blowing!

Thank for your time.

The pleasure is mine.
